A PLATE FULL

MORE...MORE...MORE!!!!!!

Have you ever noticed how a child who gets much, usually doesn't seem to get enough?  If you give a child an XBOX, he'll then want a Wii, and once he becomes bored with that...he'll want a Sony PlayStation, and once that device is upgraded he'll want the newest edition.  After he's played out a-l-l the games, he'll then want an Iphone, it's never-ending!  It reminds me of the children books by Laura Numeroff , "If You Give a Pig a Pancake".

If you give a pig a pancake, she'll want some syrup to go with it. You'll give her some of your favorite maple syrup, and she'll probably get all sticky, so she'll want to take a bath. She'll ask you for some bubbles. When you give her the bubbles...

It starts a vicious cycle of expectation, and greed.  This isn't just children. There are adults whose cravings can never be met. Some will just park themselves at the buffet of bountiful waiting to snatch up something before another has a chance. I think of this as we approach "Black Friday".  It is ridiculous how people will trample each other over a flat screen t.v. or kill over a parking lot space. You can view the craziness on this site blackfridaydeathcount in 2013 there were 7 killed and 90 injured.  What are we doing with the resources, talents, or gifts that have been given us individually or as a nation?  Are we building God's kingdom, or our own sand castles of self-indulgence?

Haggai 1-11(NIV)

A Call to Build the House of the Lord

In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jozadak,[a] the high priest:
This is what the Lord Almighty says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord’s house.’”
Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?
Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”
This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the Lord. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little.What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house. 10 Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. 11 I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil and everything else the ground produces, on people and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.
Everything we have is given for use by God, its all His!  We own NOTHING! Therefore we should gratefully appreciate, and use wisely the resources He has entrusted us with.  And it is hard to imagine that trampling another for an electronic device is what God had in mind.

Psalm 24:1(NIV)

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;
